Get Connected

shaping the future one life at a time

You may be brand-new to Bible Truth Church, this may be your church home, or you might just be browsing through our site. Whatever your reason, you’re here!

Bible Truth Church is a place where you can meet people, get connected, and build authentic relationships—with God and with others. Being part of a spiritually growing and biblically functioning community is what church is all about. But getting connected can sometimes still feel overwhelming. Here’s the good news: it’s easier than you think! And, it’ll be better than your think! Opportunities exist everywhere to help you connect with others, build lasting relationships, and make Bible Truth Church feel like home.

1. Core Values
Our five (5) Core Values – CONNECT, BELONG, GROW, SERVE, and SHARE – shape the culture and define the character of Bible Truth Church.  They outline our vision and our actions as Christians and as a church body.

2. Volunteer
Serving with others is one of the best ways to get to know people and build valuable relationships. Look for a place to volunteer in one of our many ministries at Bible Truth Church. Interested in serving during our weekly worship services? We are always recruiting volunteers to be a part of our Ushers Team, KIDS LIFE Team, Student Ministries Team, Worship Team, and Small Group Life Team.

3. Small Group Life
Small Group Life at Bible Truth Church is a great way to get connected! In a church our size it is impossible to know everyone, but it is important for you to know someone. Small Group Life is designed to help you recalibrate your life, build relationships and grow your spiritual life with God. Most groups consist of 6 to 12 people and are available during the week in neighbourhoods all over Kamloops for an hour and a half. These groups are about friendships, encouragement, bible study, prayer and serving others. Small Group Life gives you the opportunity to take a break from the busy demands of everyday life and invest in what is really important: your relationship with God and your relationship with the people around you.

Life is best lived when shared with others!

The Bible tells us that after God formed man from the dust of the earth, God planted a garden where He placed the man whom He had formed and gave Him the responsibility to take care of it.  Even though everything God created was good, He knew that it was not good for man to be alone.  This principle goes beyond marriage; it refers to our inherent need to relate and to connect – to integrate, not isolate!

We are created to live in relationship with God and with others.  This requires Creative Opportunities to Network with, Nurture, Enrich, Care for, and build Trust with others.  Our goal is to provide as many opportunities for this to happen as possible.

Whether through a common interest or an invitation, CONNECT is about building relationships!

You may be an invited guest, a seeker looking for answers, a new believer in Christ, a person who already attends Bible Truth Church, or someone simply looking for a way to get “plugged in.”  There is a way for you to CONNECT at Bible Truth Church or with someone from Bible Truth Church.  The simple fact that you are searching through this web page indicates that you already have a level of interest in connecting with others.  We want to help you find that right connection!  We want you to discover the joy of sharing life together with others!

You may be interested in Small Group Life studies in someone’s home, a weekly coffee with friends, computers, fishing, gaming, trailblazing, hiking, a monthly men's, women's, or couple’s breakfast, connecting with other young moms, marriage enrichment, or any of a number of other things.  Whatever your interest is, there is a place for you to connect!

Connecting is as easy as 1-2-3

Belong

Belong

The need to belong is an individual experience that transcends age and culture. God wired us for community.  We are born with an instinctive quest to belong!  Where we eventually end up belonging, though, is directly linked to the particular stage of life we are in, the place geographically where we live, and the space needed where we are free to be who God made us to be.

Each of us has a different work to do in life.  Yet, we belong to each other, and each of us needs all the others to be the most effective at what we do.

For us here at Bible Truth Church , BELONG is defined as:

  • Believers Embracing Love, Opportunity, Nurture, and Growth.

Grow

Grow

Growth seems to happen so quietly, so naturally.  Only time reveals its nearly invisible quality.  Yet, healthy growth requires proper diet, appropriate exercise, and good deliberate choices.

Spiritually, we are instructed to grow in the enabling grace and knowledge – recognition and understanding – of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.  We are to let everyone see our spiritual progress.  We are to train ourselves to be godly, because spiritual training is both useful and valuable for everything in this present life and for the life to come.  We best portray ourselves as disciples of Christ when, through a demonstration of active love, our lives produce things done in excellence that last.  We are to work out our faith.  We are to mature in our God-given gifts, abilities, and talents.  We are to prepare ourselves for the good work God has prepared in advance for us to do.  We are to make disciples of all nations.  We are to grow in our own ability so that we can teach, lead, and help other people grow.  God wants the growth in our lives to be a display of His glory and to be pleasing to the human eye.

GROW at Bible Truth Church means:

  • Give, Relate, Observe, and Walk

Serve

Ministry begins with a motivation to serve – the willingness to volunteer time, spiritual gifts, abilities, and talents to serve the church, to serve other Christians, and to serve the community.

It is said of Jesus that he went everywhere doing good.  We, too, are created to live lives filled with good works and to serve each other through love.  As Christians, we are to prepare ourselves to serve and to build up the body of Christ.  The Bible tells us that there are different ways of serving, yet it is the Lord being served.  There are different types of work to do, but it is God who produces every gift and ability in every person.  We are to use our energy to serve.  Whoever wants to advance in life must first learn how to serve.  Through serving we model the true nature of leading.  Jesus did not come so that others could serve him.  He came to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many people.  We must serve with the same attitude of Christ.

This principle of serving is commanded of God in the Old Testament and is characterized by Christ in the New Testament.  It is neither a suggestion nor an option for the church; serving is an essential component to your growth as a Christ follower.  It is for your good that you serve, that you honour God, that you love him.  Serving more than singing is the highest form of worship, and we are to worship the Lord with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength.  So serve eagerly, willingly, and faithfully.  And, whatever you do, do it wholeheartedly; it is Christ whom you are ultimately serving!

Serve wherever God has placed you!  Volunteer your time and talents in one of our church ministries; there’s always room for one more on the team.

Share

The heart of evangelism is found in the simplicity of sharing life – your life and Christ’s life – with others.  It is not as complicated as we often think or make it to be.  Sharing is meant to be contagious.  When we share what we have with those in need, it opens a door into their life, into their heart.  We share stories, dreams, challenges, and successes with those we know.  We share promises, painful experiences, and adventurous pursuits with those close to us.  But, as Christians, we also have the privilege of sharing the greatest message of all – salvation – with everyone who comes across our path, stranger and friend alike!

One of the beautiful outcomes of biblical wisdom is a willingness to share with others what you have been blessed with and to show respect to the poor and oppressed without prejudice or favouritism.  “Who are the poor and the oppressed?”  They are anyone hungry, homeless, helpless, and hurting both physically and spiritually.  Only when we deliberately seek to satisfy the needs of those who are humble will our light rise in the darkness and become as bright as the noonday sun.

What God has shared with us in the way of promise and prosperity, we now have the responsibility to share generously with others.  Sharing requires personal sacrifice, but these are the kinds of sacrifices that please God.  In the same way that Christ shared in our humanity to bring us hope, we can show love and compassion to others as a means of sharing in their humanity.  In essence, we can become like them, share life with them, and better love them in order to reach them in the name of Christ.  What better gift can we give someone other than the gift of faith!
